Redesign of the application: simplification and modernization
Covoit'ici is a carpooling application for home-work trips. Like buses, Covoit'ici offers routes with predefined stops.
I was mandated before the arrival of a UX designer in the start-up to rework the driver's user flow and propose a modernization of the artistic direction of the application, based on the existing graphic charter.
Covoit'ici had conducted a survey among its users in order to understand the major problems they encounter when using the application. I analyzed these returns.
Following an audit of the application and a study of the competition, we decided to focus on:
- The implementation of an onboarding to guide users in building their first trip
- A redesign of the application's navigation
- The configuration of the home-work journey
- The reservation of a seat by a passenger during the trip
The tests were performed remotely, on the testers' smartphone, with a prototype made on ProtoPie.
They were asked to:
- Share their understanding of the application's homepage
- Create a new trip and add it to favorites
- Make a daily trip
Overall, the application was appreciated. Testers found it intuitive and fluid. The visual and sound interactions were praised by the testers.
The line principle remains difficult to understand. We changed the map UI: each line has now its own color, and the line number is clearly indicated on the map.
The linear map during the trip seems to be q problem for users, as it is far from their mental model. They would like to have a navigation experience close to Google Maps or Waze. This feedback was not prioritized, due to its technical complexity in the time frame.
